Appalachain Houndsmen Association
Preserving the Houndsmen's Heritage for the Next Generation
through Education, Conservation and Preservation ..........
Organized March 1st, 2007
Are you wondering “What is the Appalachian Houndsmen Association”? Do you have a hound, beagle, bird dog, squirrel dog or any other type of dog used in hunting??????
Maybe this will help you understand who we are and why we need you.
The Appalachian Houndsmen Association is an association that was started on the basis of joining together all of our clubs from all the different hunting areas to be able to united as one large voice to stand up and fight to protect our hunting and breeding rights. We believe that through education, conservation and preservation we can teach the next generation to love our sports as much as we do. We want members from all types of dog hunting, coon hunters, big game hunters, beaglers, fox hunters and bird hunters. We need everyone to be able to make our voice heard. As our motto states “Preserving Our Hunting Heritage for the next Generation”, is a large and bold undertaking and this cannot be accomplished by one person or one club or one group of hunters. Together as a united group we can fight and be heard. As an association we have already been in contact with the SC Attorney Generals Office over Hog and Bear Bay Laws and we are continuing to fight this fight. We went before the Henderson County NC Commissioners to make sure that hunting dogs were exempted from the Noise Ordinance that was being rewritten. We have written a rebuttal letter to the editor of the “Greenville News” in Greenville, SC over a letter written about the proposed extended run dates for Bear Hunters in SC. We helped defeat a proposed Mandatory Spay and Neuter Law in Henderson County NC. All of this in our first year. With your help we can do even more.
